Traditional Art

Drawings and Paintings

About

Here you can find my traditional drawings on paper. Most of these are for my art classes. The ones listed as a portfolio project, which are required to follow a theme. My portfolio theme was healing!

Identity Collage

This was my first project for my AP Art and Design Class! The assignment was to create a piece that represents yourself, so I drew me and added little symbols/drawings of my favorite things (games, activities, etc.) and little symbols that represent me!

Materials/Process

  • I sketched using a regular graphite pencil, did lineart with a basic black gel pen, then used colored pencils to color the entire piece.
  • I sketched, outlined, and colored the little symbols on paper and cut them out, then glued them around the piece.

  • Maternal Healing

This was technically my second project for my AP Art and Design Class, but it is the first assignment I will submit to my portfolio.

    Materials/Process

  • I sketched using a regular graphite pencil
  • Then I colored and added shading using colored pencils.

  • November 2023 Technical Project

This is one of my monthly assigned technical projects where we are taught a new skill and have to apply it to a small art piece. This one was to practice shading using only cold/warm hues instead of dark like brown, black, or white..

    Materials/Process

  • I sketched using a regular graphite pencil, then added base colors using watercolor paints.
  • Then I went back in with the watercolors and added cold tones like purples and blues in the spots there would be shadows, and warm tones like yellow and pink in the spots there would be highlights.

  • Sick Day

This is another project for my AP Art & Design Portfolio. I drew a little girl who is in bed with a thermometer in her mouth. She is staying home sick.

    Materials/Process

  • I sketched using a regular graphite pencil
  • Then I colored and added shading using colored pencils.
  • Finally, I added highlights using a white gel pen.

  • Untitled

This is another portfolio project, featuring a girl who is crying on the bathroom floor. She is wearing a blue dress and there is makeup on the floor next to her. The idea was that it was prom night or something similar and she felt like she wasn't pretty enough. This is why I chose to make both her dress and all of the makeup blue, because it would reflect the sadness she feels because no matter how much she tries she is not happy with her appearance.

    Materials/Process

  • I sketched using a regular graphite pencil.
  • Then I added colors using watercolor paints. I wanted to use the same technique from the November Projet, so I focused on using purples and blues in areas of shadow and pinks for light areas rather than using blacks and browns for shadows and white for lights.

  • Costume A La Victime

This is an in-progress portfolio project. It is inspired by the French Revolution. Many French people would cut their hair and wear red choker necklaces to represent and sympthize with the victims of the guilloutine.

    Materials/Process

  • I sketched using a regular graphite pencil
  • And now I'm working on coloring and adding shading using colored pencils.
